Foundation’s volunteers: Iryna and Nataliia

21 September 2023

Nataliia and Iryna are Farmak’s employees and volunteers of the Zhebrivsky Family Charitable Foundation. They care for the critically wounded servicemen, whose rehabilitation is funded by our Foundation in one of the capital’s private clinics.

Nataliia and Iryna visit the hospital several times a week, have a talk with patients, often collect people together, play something, arrange a walk. Most of those they visit do not have many guests, therefore, communication with them is very essential.

The positive effect of their volunteers’ work is demonstrated by the care recipients: their mood has greatly improved; they have the life in their eyes.

“There is a war in our country. Everyone is trying to contribute to our Victory. If you can’t fight, if you can’t bear the arms, help the guys to rehabilitate. They need physical, psychological, and legal assistance. My personal contribution now is to mentally support the guys, to find the resources they need for rehabilitation and adaptation. This way I feel I am needed. Before my first meeting I was very anxious: how should I behave? What should we talk about? But when I saw their eyes filled with the thirst for life, I understood that my anxiousness was needless,” says Iryna.

“Sometimes, it is essential to just listen because people need to have their say. It is also important to acknowledge the person and appreciate what he or she does,” says Nataliia.

Supporting those who defend us is what we can do. We have a lot to do both to win and to recover the country. When we are together, we are supporting each other, we’ll pull everything off.
