The Zhebrivsky Family Charitable Foundation is financing the Program “Rehabilitation of Patients with Severe Physical Challenges” for the military in one of Kyiv private clinics.
The total amount of this assistance has amounted to UAH 14.5 million by the end of April 2024.
Farmak’s employees also joined this voluntary assistance for these military: they visit the guys, talk to them, help them during walks and leisure time. They have been visiting patients for more than a year, and it really helps the guys to recover faster.
Today, we want to tell the story of a defender who has been in rehabilitation for a long time and is ready to return to his blood brothers.
From the first days of the full-scale invasion, Roman joined the army at the front. He was assigned to the assault brigade, in which he served for a year and 3 months. In mid-May 2023, during a combat mission near Bakhmut, he was injured by a mortar mine.
Then, evacuation, surgeries, therapies and rehabilitation followed. Over a year, Roman had 7 surgeries, was transferred to several healthcare facilities, and in October ended up in rehabilitation at a hospital, with which our Foundation cooperates and which our employees visit.
“I met the volunteers three months ago. As usual, they went around the wards and invited to come down to the hall to play board games, chat. At first, I did not accept the invitations and preferred to be alone. Then, I overcame my reluctance, and everything changed. We started talking, meeting together, doing things together. What the volunteers do is extremely important. You see, many soldiers in the clinic do not have relatives to visit them, they are inside the walls of the hospital 24 hours a day that is why such socialization is a value for them, they wait for the days when volunteers come. Often, the injured themselves do not really want to go out anywhere, unfortunately. Not everyone reacts to them correctly, the guys go into their own shell. And this should be changed. The more people join, the better it will be,” says Roman.
Roman has now decided to return to the front.
“It’s difficult for me to explain to people who are not at the front why I’m coming back, despite the injury, which still bothers me. I just understand that I am needed more there now, and I can do more,” he says.
We took care of his protection, in particular, the Foundation provided Roman with a Warnor bulletproof vest with class 6 armour plates and a helmet with headphones.
Supporting the military is the duty of everyone in the rear. The more people join in helping today, the closer our victory is.
